Syria’s northwest witnesses new escalation in its areas
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, mutual bombardment between armed opposition factions and Syrian government forces renewed in the countryside of Idlib and Aleppo, northwest Syria.
Opposition military sources told North Press that the government forces bombed the factions’ positions in the towns of al-Fatirah, Kafr Oweid, Sfuhun, Benin, outskirts of al-Bara and Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery shells.
The sources added that the bombing also affected the towns of Tadel and Kafr Ta’al and the outskirts of the city of Darat Izza and Jabal Sheikh Aqil, west of Aleppo governorate.
For its part, the al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room announced that it targeted government forces’ positions on the al-Dar al-Kabirah axis, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery and mortar shells.
The mutual bombing between the two sides coincided with an intense flight of Russian reconnaissance planes over Idlib and the countryside of Hama and Latakia, northwest Syria.
