Iraq invites Emir for Qatar for Iraq Neighboring Conference, Assad’s still unknown

ERBIL, Iraq (North Press) – Iraq invited the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, to attend the Neighboring Countries Conference to be held at the end of this month in the capital, Baghdad.

The Iraqi capital, Baghdad, is scheduled to host a regional conference at the end of August.

During the past few days, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent invitations to the presidents of Turkey, Iran, Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

But until now, no statement has been issued regarding whether there was an invitation addressed to Damascus or not.

A source of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs told North Press that he could “not be certain of the intention of sending an invitation to the Syrian president or not.”

Today, the Iraqi National Security Adviser, Qassem al-A’raji, arrived in Qatar on an official visit.

In a statement seen by North Press, the media office of the National Security Adviser stated that al-A’raji is carrying a message with him from the Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhemi, to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, to attend the summit to be held in Baghdad.

Al-A’raji is discussing, with officials of Qatar, the development of bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries at all levels, according to the statement.
