Landmine exploded in Syria’s Afrin countryside, young man died
ALEPPO NORTHERN COUNTRYSIDE, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a landmine exploded in Sherawa district, south of Afrin, northwest Syria, which resulted in the killing of a young man and the loss of his brother while grazing sheep.
A resident of the village of Mayasa in Sherawa district said that the young man was grazing sheep in the pastures extending to the areas of the deployment of the pro-Turkish opposition factions, which have controlled the city of Afrin and its other areas since 2018.
Roj Gilko, the media spokesman for the Kurdish Red Crescent, said that the 19-year-old Zakariya Muhammad Ramadan died this afternoon as a result of a landmine explosion in the village of Mayasa while he was grazing sheep.
He added that his brother, Ala’ Muhammad Ramadan, 15, who was with Zakariya, has not been found since the incident.
Since the beginning of the displacement of the residents of the city of Afrin to the northern countryside of Aleppo, the number of victims of landmine explosions has risen to 87, according to the Kurdish Red Crescent.
