Points of government-backed National Defense militias targeted in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North press) – On Thursday, unidentified gunmen, believed to be ISIS members, attacked two points of the Syrian government-backed National Defense Forces (NDF) in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor, injuring three members.

The government forces mobilized in the area extending from the desert of the town of al-Tibni to the town of al-Masrab in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor. The internet connection was cut off to the entire area by the government forces.

“The attack, that took place this morning, targeted simultaneously an NDF point in al-Tibni desert and another in al-Masrab, wounding three members seriously,” Muhammad (a pseudonym), member of the Syrian Military Police, said.

“The Russian warplanes air raided the Badia, west of Deir ez-Zor, in conjunction with a combing campaign carried out by the NDF members in the vicinity of their military points,” he added.

Prior to this evening, the internet service was connected in the government-held areas in the western countryside of Deir ez-Zor following news that the campaign had ended.
