Turkish-backed armed faction arrest residents of Syria’s Afrin
AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Turkish-backed Sultan Murad faction arrested 15 people arbitrarily during a storming in the village of Qourt in the countryside of Afrin, north of Aleppo.
An armed group belonging to Sultan Murad Division raided the village with cars and light and medium weapons and arrested 15 people, including the elderly, a local source told North Press.
The place of and reason for the arrest and the detainees’ fate are unknown, the source added.
Since the Turkish invasion in 2018, Afrin, north of Aleppo, has been under the control of Turkey and its loyalist armed factions.
Afrin and its villages are witnessing instability including arrests, kidnappings, and successive explosions in light of the factions’ inability to settle the security situation there.
