Turkish forces bomb civilians in Syria’s Tel Tamr countryside
TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Turkish army bombarded the countryside of the town of Tel Tamr, northeastern Syria, with a barrage of artillery and mortar shells.
The Turkish artillery targeted the Assyrian village of Tel Shanan, east of Tel Tamr, between 02:30 and 03:00 Thursday morning, a military source in the Tel Tamr Military Council told North Press.
A Turkish reconnaissance plane flew over the area after the bombing, the source added.
On Wednesday evening, Turkish artillery bombed six villages in the countryside of the towns of Tel Tamr and Abu Rasin, north of Hasakah, wounding an elderly woman and two members of the government forces in Umm al-Keif village, north of Tel Tamr.
The aforementioned villages also witnessed a wave of displacement towards the surrounding fields and villages as a result of the bombing.
Tel Tamr sits on the front lines between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) – affiliated militias and government forces, and Turkish forces and their affiliated armed Syrian factions.
On Monday, shelling by the Turkish army and armed opposition factions on the countryside of Syria’s Tel Tamr wounded a woman and one of her children as they attempted to flee the bombardment.
For about ten days, the villages of the countryside of Tel Tamr have witnessed repeated targeting by Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions.
