Syria’s Autonomous Administration should be supported against ISIS: Mazloum Abdi

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi said that the Islamic State (ISIS) still forms a major threat, and that projects of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) should be supported so that they can reach an ultimate defeat against ISIS.

Abdi made his statememt during the annual meeting of the military councils held by the SDF in the city of Hasakah with the attendance of officials of the SDF and the Global Coalition.

The SDF Commander-in-Chief pointed out that ISIS still forms a big threat to the entire world and that they, with the support of their partners the Global Coalition, continue the fight against the terrorist ISIS.

“In order to reach an ultimate defeat against ISIS, AANES’ projects should be supported and the international community must open a path for humanitarian aid access into Syria,” Abdi said.

“Turkey is still targeting, on a daily basis, populated safe areas; additionally, we will go ahead with our coordination with Russian troops to ease escalation on our northern borders,” he added.

Moreover, Abdi stressed the importance of the intra-Syrian talks to solve problems with the central government in order to reach a political agreement, as “hostile statements by the regime fall in the best interest of no one,” he indicated.

“SDF will work to retake the occupied areas and guarantee stabilization throughout Syria. SDF are proud of the unifying Syrian identity,” he added.
