Displaced people from Syria’s Daraa return to their homes, no deal anounced
DARAA, Syria (North Press) – With the continuation of calm and the cessation of shelling and clashes, residents who had been displaced during the past days from Daraa al-Balad and the besieged neighborhoods, began to return to their homes.
The returnees passed through the Saraya military checkpoint, which connects Daraa al-Balad, the besieged neighborhoods, and the center of the city of Daraa in southern Syria.
The Saraya military checkpoint had been closed after the outbreak of clashes and during the military escalation after them.
Although people haven’t been given guarantees that the government forces would not bomb Daraa al-Balad again, they returned, local sources told North Press.
The sources added that many of the displaced chose to return to their homes, despite the lack of any official agreement, due to the difficult living situation in the shelters they sought refuge in in Daraa al-Mahatta.
A special source in the Daraa Central Committee revealed to North Press that talks are still taking place between the Central Committee and the government forces, in the presence of representatives of the Fifth Corps. No topics have been announced yet.
