Mutual bombardment between government forces, opposition factions renews in Syria’s northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the de-escalation zone in Idlib and Aleppo, northwest Syria, witnessed a renewed exchange of bombing between the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions and the Syrian government forces.

“Today at dawn, the government forces bombed the faction’s fortifications in the villages and towns of al-Bara, Deir Sunbul, and Ma’arat al-Na’san in the southern and northern countryside of Idlib, with artillery shells and rocket launchers,” military sources of the opposition told North Press.

The bombing targeted the locations of the factions in the towns of Kafr Amma and Kafr Ta’al west of Aleppo, with mortar shells from the neighboring government forces stationed in the 46th Regiment in the same area, according to the same sources.

The sources added that the bombing coincided with intense flight of Russian warplanes and government reconnaissance planes in the countryside of Idlib, Hama and Aleppo, without recording any air strike.

The al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several armed factions announced targeting the positions of the government forces in the vicinity of Zawiya Mountain and Khan Shaykhun south of Idlib, with mortars and Grad missiles.
