Shelling escalates between government and opposition in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the de-escalation zone in Idlib and Aleppo, northwest Syria, witnessed a renewed exchange of bombing between the Turkish-backed opposition factions and the Syrian government forces in different areas, amid intense flight of Russian reconnaissance aircraft.

“The al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several armed factions, targeted the government forces’ positions near Miznaz, Urum al-Kubra and the 46th Regiment, west of the city of Aleppo, with heavy artillery shells and rockets,” sources of the opposition factions told North Press.

“The factions also targeted a position of the government forces near the town of Hass, south of Idlib, with a guided missile,” the sources added.

In turn, the government forces bombarded the villages and towns of Mozara, al-Fatirah, Kafr Oweid and Sufuhn in the Zawiya Mountain, with heavy artillery shells and rockets.

Earlier on Thursday, Russian warplanes launched air strikes on opposition’s sites in the Zawiya Mountain area, causing material damage.
