Russia targets opposition factions’ posts in Syria’s Latakia

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Russian warplanes conducted airstrikes against posts of Turkish-backed armed factions north of Latakia, northwest Syria.

Russian warplanes targeted the armed factions’ fortifications in the Kabani hills, in the north Latakia countryside, with vacuum rockets, military sources from the factions told North Press.

The Russian airstrikes coincided with intensive shelling by Syrian government forces on posts of the armed factions in the southern countryside of Idlib, where no human losses were reported, according to the sources.

Government forces stationed in the city of Kafr Nabl shelled the factions’ sites in the towns of al-Bara and al-Haloba, south Idlib countryside, the sources mentioned.

Late Sunday, government forces stationed in Jurin Camp targeted the sites of factions in the towns of al-Enkawi, and al–Qahira in Ghab Plain, west Hama countryside, with heavy artillery shells.

However, areas in the countryside of Idlib have been witnessing months of military escalation between the government forces and the Turkish-backed armed factions despite the two-year-old ongoing Russian-Turkish signed ceasefire.
