Government foces continue targeting opposition factions in Syria’s Idlib
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Syrian government forces renewed their bombardment on Turkish-backed armed factions’ positions in different areas in the southern countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria.
Government forces targeted the fortifications of the armed factions in the towns of Kafr Awaid, Kansafra and al-Riwayha, south of Idlib, with artillery shells. One of the shells hit a car in Kafr Awaid, military sources from the opposition told North Press.
The bombardment coincided with intensive flight of aircraft and drones over the area. No casualties were reported, the sources added.
On Thursday night, the government forces bombed the villages and towns of al-Bara, Sufuhun, and Jabal al-Arba’in in the Zawiya Mountain in the southern countryside of Idlib, with heavy artilley shells and rockets.
The military escalation between the government forces and Turkish-backed aremd factions comes within the de-escalation zone despite the entry into force of the cease-fire agreement which has entered its second year.
