Syria’s AANES forms select committee to draft Social Contract
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a meeting of the AANES Social Contract Drafting Committee led to the formation of a select committee that will work for nearly two months to prepare a draft of the social contract, which the AANES considers as a constitution for its regions.
In its first meeting in the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria, the committee chose a select committee of 30 members to prepare the draft.
“The select committee will elect two people as the committee’s bureau, and it will meet intensively to prepare the draft,” said Farid Atti, co-chair of the General Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
In an exclusive audio statement to North Press, he added that after its completion by the select committee, the draft of the social contract will be presented to the expanded committee that includes 160 members for approval before it is submitted to the General Council for the final approval.
Atti pointed out that the members set a period of two months for the committee’s work to be completed and the draft to be approved by the expanded committee.
In May, the SDF Commander-in-Chief, Mazloum Abdi, discussed the work to achieve a broad development process for the Autonomous Administration with the AANES Executive Council.
While attending a meeting with the council, Abdi said that they focus on three main points, which are standardization of decisions, transparency and the principle of participation.
