Government, opposition exchange shelling in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the southern countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria, witnessed a renewed exchange of shelling between the armed opposition factions and the Syrian government forces.
“The government forces bombed the opposition’s fortifications near the towns of Harsh Benin, al-Bara and Fleifel in the southern countryside of Idlib, with artillery shells,” military sources of the factions told North Press.
“The shelling coincided with intense flight of Russian warplanes and drones over the countryside of Idlib, Hama and Latakia, while no air strikes were reported,” the sources added.
This morning, the government forces bombed the fortifications of the opposition factions in the villages and towns of Hmeimat, al-Fatira, Sufuhn and the outskirts of Kansafra in Zawiya Mountain area, south of Idlib, in addition to the towns of al-Ziyara and Zayzon in the Ghab Plain area, west of Hama.
In turn, the al-Fath al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes several armed factions, announced that it managed to destroy a tank of the government forces and kill its crew near the village of Kawkaba in the southern countryside of Idlib.
