HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Hawl Camp, northeast Syria, found the body of an Iraqi refugee in the camp.
She was killed by unknown persons believed to be ISIS agents.
A security source in the Asayish in Hawl camp told North Press that the Iraqi refugee was found dead in her tent in the first sector of the camp, with bullets wounds to the head.
The 40-year-old victim belongs to al-Salmaniya clan, who reside in al-Qaim district in Anbar Governorate, western Iraq.
Since mid-June, Hawl Camp documented more than 11 killings in all its sectors, some of which hosts families of ISIS members.
In late March, the Asayish and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), supported by counter-terrorism units and the rapid intervention force (Hawari), arrested dozens of wanted individuals as part of a security campaign in Hawl Camp.
Since early 2021, ISIS sleeper cells have killed 60 individuals inside the camp, according to a report by Asayish.
Hawl Camp includes more than 60,000 people, including ISIS supporters, families and large numbers of children.
