Government and opposition exchange shelling in Syria’s northwest
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) –On Thursday, Turkish-backed opposition factions and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly al-Nusra Front) bombed Syrian government sites in the Idlib, Hama and Aleppo regions, while the latter bombed the villages of the southern countryside of Idlib, northwest Syria.
Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room, which includes Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the National Front for Liberation, the Army of Glory (Jaish al-Izza), and other factions, heavily bombed positions of the Damascus government forces in the countryside of Idlib, Hama and Aleppo, military sources in the opposition factions told North Press.
The bombing targeted a joint headquarters of the government and Russian forces in the town of Talmans, east of Idlib, in addition to targeting sites in Kafr Nabl, Basqala, Ma’arat al-Numan, Khan al-Sabil, Jabala, Hazarin and southeast of the city, the sources added.
The factions also targeted with missiles the towns of Kafr Halab, Mizanaz and the 46th Regiment, west of Aleppo, according to the same sources.
Local sources told North Press that the government forces bombed the vicinity of the Turkish points stationed in the town of Balion and Tel al-Sheikh Tammam, and other locations in the villages and towns of al-Fatira, Kafr Aweed, Sufuhn, al-Bara, Kansafra and Benin, south of Idlib city, with heavy artillery and rockets.
In Hama, the government forces, present in Jurin Camp, bombed positions of the opposition factions in the towns of al-Ziyara and al-Enkawi and the outskirts of the village of Khirbet al-Naqus, west of the city.
No casualties were reported as a result of the exchange of shelling between the two sides.
