Man mysteriously killed in Syria’s Hasakah, calls on accountability

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, social media of people living in northeast Syria or abroad, were buzzing with the killing of Amin Issa al-Ali, from the town of Derbasiyah in Hasakah countryside, after circulating photos they said were of the young man’s body and showed signs of torture on it.

Angrily posting, the activists called for the Autonomous Administration to reveal the “jailers” and “murderers” and hold them accountable for the “crime.”

“Shame on the killers of Amin Issa al-Ali. When the jailer turns from someone carries out orders to the one in charge, the society is no longer safe,” journalist Hussein Jemmo wrote.

“Society must be supported to protect itself against those who are social outcasts,” he added.

Pictures and audio recordings of the victim’s relatives spread, stating that he was subjected to torture methods described by activists as brutal, sadistic and unprecedented.

Muhyadin Iso, a journalist from Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), said, the crime “should not be solved by traditional methods, but the killers and criminals who tortured the young man to death must be held accountable.”

“The officials who gave the orders to torture the victim must be held accountable. It is a crime against humanity. If no action is taken, the criminals and murderers will become more brutal and criminal,” he added.

The official and security authorities of the Autonomous Administration have not issued any explanation on the incident yet.
