Local Asayish leader killed in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, a local leader of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) was killed by the bullets of unidentified gunmen in a town west of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

A local source from al-Hisan town, 20 kilometers west of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that a local leader of the Asayish was killed by gunfire from unidentified persons riding a motorcycle in front of his house.

There were more than eight gunmen riding four motorcycles, according to eyewitnesses in the town.

The Asayish member was from al-Hisan town.

Recently, Islamic State (ISIS) sleeper cells have been mobilizing in the villages of Deir ez-Zor despite the security campaigns and intensification imposed by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

On Saturday, four members of the SDF lost their lives and six others were wounded when an IED exploded in their vehicle in the town of Jazrat al-Milaj, west of Deir ez-Zor.
