Russian ISIS woman nearly killed in Syria’s Hawl Camp
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a woman of Russian origin in Hawl Camp, northeastern Syria, was subjected to an assassination attempt by extremist women in the ISIS families’ section in the camp.
A security source in Hawl Camp told North Press that Russian refugee Elena Alexander, who is from the families of the militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) and has four children, was stabbed and beaten with sharp objects in the camp.
The source added that the refugee suffered a back and head injury, and was transferred to a medical point for treatment.
Following the security campaign launched by Asayish supported by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in late March, Hawl Camp has witnessed three killings; the latest was the killing of Iraqi refugees by unknown individuals on May 8.
In late March, The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), supported by counter-terrorism units and the rapid intervention force arrested dozens of wanted individuals as part of a security campaign in Hawl Camp, east of Hasakah city.
Since early 2021, ISIS sleeper cells have killed 47 individuals inside the camp, according to a report by Asayish.
Hawl Camp includes more than 60,000 people, including ISIS supporters and families and large numbers of children.
ISIS families and fighters have formed a special administration known as hizba (ISIS moral police), which are assigned to teach ISIS courses to children within the camp, “in an attempt to preserve and revive ISIS when it is possible,” according to the Asayish report.
And in the middle April, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria handed over 34 orphans of ISIS members’ to the Russian government during a high-ranking Russian delegation’s visit to the city of Qamishli.
