Two members of government forces wounded in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Two members of the government forces were wounded, on Tuesday, when unknown individuals targeted a military post of the Syrian government forces in al-Mayadin Desert in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

Yazan al-Alais (a pseudonym), a member of the government forces, told North Press that an IED was planted near the military point in the desert south of al-Mayadin.

He added, “two members of the government forces were seriously wounded and were taken to al-Mayadin Hospital for treatment.”

Five military vehicles brought in reinforcements to the area with the aim of securing the point and searching for explosive devices and the possibility of their presence near the military point, according to al-Alais.

He believes that ISIS cells carried out the operation, although they have not yet claimed responsibility for the operation.

ISIS cells are active in Deir ez-Zor’s surrounding desert, and the cells repeatedly target government forces and their affiliated factions.
