National Defense hands points in Syrian Desert to Fifth Corps
PALMYRA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Russian-backed Fifth Corps of the Syrian government forces took control of four points that were held by the National Defense militia in the vicinity of the town of Amiriya in the Syrian Desert, east of Homs.
The National Defense members were transferred from their points in the vicinity of the town of Amiriya to their headquarters in the city of Palmyra in the eastern countryside of Homs and handed over to the Fifth Corps, according to sources in the region.
Ali Al-Saber (a pseudonym), a member of the Fifth Corps in Palmyra, said that the operation to control the four points is a preparation for an extensive combing campaign in the town of Amiriya and its surroundings in the Syrian Desert against the active ISIS cells.
The town of Ameriya in the Syrian Desert (Badia) is one of the large areas east of Homs, which has come under the full control of the government forces and the Fifth Corps after subjugating the four points where National Defense fighters were stationed.
