Body found in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, residents of the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, found the body of an unidentified man. Autopsy results indicated that the man was beheaded with a sharp implement three days ago.

A source from al-Bahra town, 100 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor, said that the residents found the body buried near an abandoned house in the town.

“The Internal Security Forces (Asayish) cordoned off the place and transferred the body to a near hospital so he can be identified,” the source added.

The initial medical examinations of the forensic pathologist showed that “72 hours have passed since the murder,” according to the source.

This is considered the first incident of its kind in the region, as al-Bahra has not witnessed any crimes despite the spread of security incidents in its vicinity.

Two months ago, the residents of al-Sha’fa, 115 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor, found the body of an unidentified individual.
