Five SDF members killed in ambush in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, five members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) lost their lives, including three local leaders, and others were wounded in an ambush by unidentified individuals in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local military source in the town of Shheell, 40 km east of Deir ez-Zor, said that unknown individuals ambushed SDF members in the town, killing a member with gunshots, causing four to lose their lives and others were wounded in a mine explosion in their car.
The militants planted a mine on the side of the road in the town, which exploded when the car was coming from al-Busayrah to the place where the bullets were fired at the first member.
The source added that the wounded were taken to al-Omar oil field to receive treatment, and their injuries were severe.
The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has been witnessing large-scale assassinations targeting SDF members, civil administration employees, tribal notables, and civilian residents, some of which ISIS has claimed responsibility for.
A member of the Legislative Council of the Autonomous Administration lost his life after unknown individuals riding a motorbike fired at him in the town of al-Jazarah, 80 kilometers west Deir ez-Zor, on Wednesday.
