SDF and Global Coalition arrest four ISIS members in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested four ISIS members in east Deir ez-Zor.

The SDF, supported by air cover of the Global Coalition, launched a security operation that targeted a meeting ISIS members in a neighborhood of the town of al-Riz, 40 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor.

“Our forces managed to arrest the members in the meeting, who were four, and seized their Kalashnikov weapons, ammunition, and hand grenades,” a military source  from the SDF told North Press.

On Friday, ISIS claimed responsibility for the killing of a local leader in the ranks of the SDF in front of his house in the town of al-Ziban, 50 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor.

In the same town, a member of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) was wounded by a bullet of unidentified individuals while he was touring the town on Friday.

On Thursday, ISIS claimed responsibility for an assassination attempt on an Asayish member in the city of Hajin, east of Deir ez-Zor.

The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor has recently been witnessing growing presence of ISIS despite the security tightening that the SDF imposed.
