Calls for demonstrations in Syria’s Idlib after man killed in HTS prison

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – A state of public resentment flared in the city of Idlib, northwest Syria, after a young man was killed in prisons of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) (formerly al-Nusra Front).

Amjad al-Osman, from al-Bara town in Zawiya Mountain, south Idlib, died in HTS prison after experiencing a heart attack, field sources told North Press.

Ten days ago, a security patrol affiliated with HTS arrested Amjad in his house in al-Bara town after accusing him of stealing copper cables, the sources added.

Meanwhile, calls for demonstrations have erupted amidst public resentment against the security apparatusaffiliated with HTS’ civil wing, the Syrian Salvation Government.

Death by torture is a frequest occurrence in HTS prisons, without clarifying accusations or reasons, according to the same sources.
