ISIS families to be repatriated to camps in Iraq from Hawl Camp

ERBIL, KRG, Iraq (North Press) – On Wednesday, Sherwan al-Dubardani, an Iraqi parliamentarian, revealed that the process will begin to repatriate ISIS families from Hawl Camp, north of Hasakah, northeast Syria, to Jada’a Camp in Qayyarah district in Nineveh.

The Iraqi government indicated its intention to receive 500 Iraqi ISIS families from Hawl Camp last month.

Al-Dubardani told North Press that the first batch will consist of 100 ISIS families.

“Some buses arrived at Hawl Camp with some officers form the Iraqi security forces,” he stated, adding that the families will be transported via Sinjar to Jada’a Camp.

Official Iraqi statistics obtained by North Press Agency state that 48% of Hawl Camp residents are Iraqis, “18,830 from Anbar governorate, 1,101 from Baghdad and Diyala, 5,787 from Salah al-Din and Kirkuk and 4,401 from Mosul.”

“Those ISIS families are being repatriated without coordinating with the local government in Nineveh or the governorate’s representatives in light of the increasing ISIS attacks against the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army,” al-Dubardani said.

The Iraqi parliamentarian said that Hawl Camp is listed as “the most dangerous camp in the world.”

Jada’a 1 Camp was prepared by the Iraqi Ministry of Immigration and Displacement and the International Organization for Migration last month to house ISIS families.
