Unidentified individuals attack armed group accused of collaborating with Hezbollah

DARAA, Syria (North Press) –On Friday at dawn, unidentified individuals attacked the leader of an armed group affiliated with the Military Security Department which is accused of collaborating with Hezbollah, said local sources in the city of Daraa, in south Syria.

An unidentified armed group targeted several vehicles in which al-Jahmani travelling in the city of Saida in the eastern countryside of Daraa, which wounded him and two others.

Al-Jahmani was ambushed as he was returning with his group from the city of Daraa al-Mahatta, the sources added.

Nidal al-Sha’abin, the deputy of the group, was targeted in the operation, but he survived the attack, the sourced indicated.

Al-Jahmani was a former military leader in a local opposition faction called the Yarmouk Army before government forces took over the region in 2018.

Since the beginning of the settlement agreement in July 2018, al-Jahmani and his members joined the Military Security Department, and are accused of collaborating with Hezbollah in Daraa.

In February, al-Sha’abin survived an assassination attempt, one of many attempts made on his life.

Several days ago, al-Sha’abin claimed responsibility for the killing of two of Bedouins in the region of al-Lujat, north of Daraa, after being accused of killing a leader of the group.
