Iraqi Sinjar delegation meets officials in northeast Syria
Hasakah, Syria (North Press) – A delegation from the Autonomous Administration and the Military Council in Sinjar, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, visited northeast Syria and met with political and military officials.
The meeting was attended by Ilham Ahmed, the President of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), General Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and Badran Jia Kurd, deputy co-chair of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
During the meeting, the two parties touched on the issue of humanitarian crossings between Sinjar and northeast Syria, as well as the issue of children and Yezidi women kidnapped by the Islamic State (ISIS).
The two parties also discussed the Newroz Camp in Derik countryside, which includes displaced Yezidis from Sinjar after ISIS attacks in August 2014.
The delegation thanked the AANES for the services it provided to the displaced Yezidis over the past years, and the role of the SDF members in protecting the Yezidis in Sinjar and the region.
The delegation also met with the political, military and religious figures in the region.
