Discord in Syria’s Qamishli aims to damage safety: political parties
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, three Syrian parties said that the aim of the fabricated discord in Qamishli, northeast Syria, is to hit civil safety and peace among communities in the area.
The People’s Will Party, the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party, and the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party called through a joint statement for the necessity of “adopting the language and means of dialogue between people of the same country to intercept the forces of terrorism and religious or national extremism.”
The statement said that the incidents of the previous four days cause “a general alienation among the people of Qamishli and the people of Jazira in general, including Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Chaldeans, and Assyrians.”
On Friday at noon, representatives from the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and others from the Syrian government met in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, to discuss security issues in al-Tai neighborhood.
The meeting was held in Qamishli airport under Russian mediation, and it has not finished yet, an exclusive source told North Press.
This comes after the failure of previous Russian and civil mediation and the assassination of an Asayish member, a tribal leader, and the killing of a child from the city by the National Defense Forces (NDF).
Since Tuesday, al-Tai neighborhood, which was a stronghold of the pro-Syrian government NDF members, has been witnessing violent clashes with medium and light weapons between Asayish and NDF.
