We sign agreements with press institutions in northeast Syria: KRG journalists’ representative
ERBIL, Iraq (North Press) – We will sign new agreements with several press institutions operating in northeastern Syria, Azad Hamad Amin, head of Journalists Syndicate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, said on Wednesday.
Hamad Amin described their agreement with the Free Media Union (press institution operating in northeast Syria) on February 10, as “principled.”
The Free Media Union in North and East Syria signed a document of understanding with the Kurdistan Region Journalists Syndicate.
The document stipulated the need to enable the media to take a positive and professional media discourse and exchange experiences.
The head of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate attributed the lack of any progress in the “Federation of Kurdistan Journalists” project to “political differences between political parties throughout Kurdistan.”
Hamad Amin pointed out that the Kurdish press has a political character, and “the journalistic projects in Kurdistan are generally political projects.”
“Journalistic projects need support, and years ago we were preparing a project to support free journalism,” he noted.
