Internal Security Forces evacuate civilians from al-Tai, Syria’s Qamishli amid clashes

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a North Press correspondent reported that the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) helped dozens of families safely exit al-Tai neighbourhood, which has been witnessing clashes since Tuesday night.

Since late Tuesday night, intermittent violent clashes have continued between the Asayish and the Damascus government’s militia group known as National Defense (NDF) in northeast Syria’s Qamishli.

An Asayish member was killed when the NDF targeted a checkpoint of the Asayish, according to an Asayish statement.

A private security source told North Press that clashes began Tuesday evening near the al-Wehda roundabout, which is controlled by Asayish, in the city center.

The Asayish deployed several security checkpoints and barriers at the entrances to the areas controlled by government forces and the armed groups affiliated with them.
