Syrian government forces target armed groups’ positions in Idlib and Hama
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday night, Syrian government forces bombed the positions of the Turkish-backed armed groups in Idlib and Hama, northwest Syria.
Local sources told North Press that government forces and Russian forces stationed in the vicinity of the city of Kafr Nabl targeted the positions of the armed groups in the towns of Sufuhn and al-Fatira in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery shells.
Moreover, government forces targeted the village of al-Ankawi in Ghab Plain, west of Hama, with mortar shells, according to the same sources.
The shelling coincided with intensive flight of Russian aircraft and drones over the countryside of Idlib, Hama, Latakia, and Aleppo, without recording any airstrikes.
The military escalation comes within the de-escalation zone between the government forces and pro-Turkish armed groups despite the entry into force of a ceasefire which has entered its second year.
