Two brothers drowned in Euphrates, Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
Deir ez-Zor, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, two brothers from the town of al-Shuhail, east Deir ez-Zor, were drowned in the Euphrates River without their parents being able to find their bodies.
The two child brothers, Suleiman al-Farhan, 14, and Farhan al-Farhan, 12, were drowned while they were swimming, trying to cross the river, a local source from the town told North Press.
Volunteers from the town headed to the river to look for the bodies after the parents’ appeal on social media, according to the source.
The source confirmed that searching for the bodies of the two drowned brothers is still continuing.
Drowning cases in the Euphrates are frequent, and most of the victims are children, and they increase in the summer.
On March 28, a child drowned in a stream in front of his house in the town of Abu Hamam, east Deir ez-Zor.
