Turkish army shells Syria’s west Kobani countryside
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – On Friday evening, four mortars fell near the town of Sheikh Tahtani, west Kobani, north Syria.
A local source from the town of Sheikh Tahtani said that the source of the shells that fell on agricultural land on the west bank of the Euphrates River was the Turkish army and Turkish-backed armed groups.
The source added that the shelling targeted uninhabited houses, causing material losses.
In January, a civilian was wounded as a result of a strike by a Turkish drone on a house, south Kobani countryside.
In July of 2020, a Turkish drone shelled a house in the village of Helinj in the southeast Kobani countryside, killing four women including a feminist activist.
In previous statements the command of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in North and East Syria accused Turkey of constantly “destabilizing security and stability and spreading chaos in the area,” and called on the Global Coalition to abide by its responsibilities regarding the successive Turkish aggression.
