Global Coalition to support health department in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, representatives of the Global Coalition met with Deir ez-Zor Civil Council in order complete the support to improve the medical support system in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.

The meeting mainly tackled the efforts against the coronavirus outbreak and ways to provide more medical services in the area, a source from the Global Coalition told North Press.

On Monday, due to the increasing numbers of the coronavirus cases, the council of the eastern area of the Deir ez-Zor countryside issued a decision to impose a complete lockdown from April 6 to 12.

On Saturday, North Press released video footage from the town of al-Busaira, east Deir ez-Zor, that showed residents’ lack of commitment regarding the complete lockdown.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) with the participation of a delegation from the Global Coalition, inaugurated a project to rehabilitate Abu Hamam hospital on October 13, 2020.

Hospitals and medical centers in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside still lack medical supplies and equipment, according to local medical sources.

The total toll of the coronavirus cases in Syria’s northeast has reached 12,236, including 422 deaths and 1,365 recoveries.
