Syria’s Autonomous Administration announces three coronavirus deaths, 298 infections

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration announced the recording of three deaths and 298 new cases of coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria.

The official Autonomous Administration account on Facebook cited Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the Health Board, that the deaths are two women and a man from Hasakah.

The infections recorded today were as follows: Qamishli (88), Hasakah (42), Raqqa (50), Tabqa (40), Derik (37), Kobani (25), Derbasiya (6), Manbij (5), and Shahba in Aleppo countryside (4).

The Health Board also recorded the recovery of five new cases of previously recorded infections.

With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has risen to 12,236 confirmed cases, including 422 deaths and 1,365 cases of recovery.

The new statistic for the number of infections and deaths due to the coronavirus comes on the sixth day of the new lockdown in the northeast regions of Syria.

On Tuesday, the full lockdown began in Qamishli, Hasakah, Raqqa, and the Deir ez-Zor countryside, to continue for a week, coinciding with a partial lockdown in the rest of northeast Syria.

Two days ago, the Health Board announced the start of a complete lockdown in the Euphrates region, which includes the cities of Kobani, Sarin and their countryside, in addition to some villages in the countryside of Tel Abyad.

According to a source from the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria, the lockdown will be extended for ten days, and there are new areas that will be added to the complete lockdown list.
