Syrian government records 125 coronavirus infections, 8 deaths

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, the Media Office of the Syrian Ministry of Health recorded 8 deaths and 125 new coronavirus infections in the areas under the Syrian government control.

The Media Office Facebook account reported that the deaths were 4 in Damascus, 2 in Tartus, 1 in Latakia, and 1 in Homs. 

Meanwhile, the Media Office recorded 114 recoveries. 

Syrian government-held areas have witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of coronavirus infections amid warnings of the collapse of the health situation in those areas.

Most of the new infections were 24 in Aleppo, 23 in Latakia, 15 in Damascus, 15 in Tartus, and 14 in Deir ez-Zor, 8 in Hama, 8 in Daraa, 7 in Rif Dimashq, 6 in Quneitra, and 5 in Homs. 

With the new cases, the total number of infections in the government-held area has risen to 20,008 confirmed cases, including 1,360 deaths and 13,780 recoveries.
