Expatriate provides bread for his village in Syria’s Qamishli during lockdown

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – An expatriate from the village of Derona Aghi, in the eastern countryside of Qamishli, northeast Syria, pledged to provide bread for the residents of his village, which is under total lockdown, following the outbreak of coronavirus among the villagers.

The implementation of the complete lockdown in the village came to effect on April 6, after confirming the infection of 35 families with coronavirus, according to an official in the Autonomous Administration.

A committee of three people was found to distribute bread to the villagers, “in compliance with the precautionary measures against the virus.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the Autonomous Administration announced the recording of 93 new cases of coronavirus in Qamishli.

The population of Derona Aghi village, in the eastern countryside of Qamishli, is estimated at 250 families.

Shivan Hamo Kendy,39, who lives in Bochum, Germany, pledged to provide bread for the residents of his village during the full lockdown.

The total lockdown will continue until April 12.
