Syria’s AANES records 241 coronavirus infections and 5 deaths

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced the recording of 241 new coronavirus infections and five deaths in northeast Syria.

AANES’ Facebook page quoted Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board, who stated that the deaths are two men and a woman from Qamishli, a man from Hasakah and another from Kobani.

The infections were 133 males and 108 females, according to Mustafa.

In the Jazira region, the infections were 93 in Qamishli, 54 in Hasakah, 47 in Derik, and 5 in Derbasiya.

While in the Euphrates region they were 25 in Raqqa and 17 in Deir ez-Zor.

Meanwhile, the AANES Health Board recorded two new recoveries.

With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has reached 11,333 confirmed cases, including 405 deaths and 1,342 recoveries.

This new toll comes on the second day of the lockdown in the northeastern regions of Syria.

AANES decided to impose a complete and partial lockdown after its regions witnessed a remarkable increase in the numbers of coronavirus infections.

The complete lockdown began in the cities of Raqqa, Qamishli, and Hasakah on April 6, and will continue for a week.
