Protest in front of Water Institution in Syria’s Suwayda

SUWAYDA, Syria (North Press) – Civilians and those interested in public affairs gathered in front of the Water Institution in Syria’s Suwayda on Tuesday evening to protest the lack of a solution to the water crisis throughout the governorate.

For a year, Suwayda has been witnessing frequent interruptions of drinking water as a result of the failure of many wells and the failure of the government to adopt any potential solution to this worsening crisis.

Salama Khairy (a pseudonym), one of the protesters, told North Press that the protest was due to the worsening water crisis in Suwayda and the government’s failure to respond to the residents’ demands.

“Residents suffer from thirst, even though Suwayda is floating on fresh water,” he added.

A government source told North Press that the governor of Suwayda, Hammam al-Dibat, contacted the groups protesting and promised to find appropriate solutions.
