Residents in Syria’s Hasakah violate lockdown decision amid criticism to Asayish
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The first day of the implementation of the total lockdown decision witnessed violations in the southern neighborhoods of the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria, amid criticism to the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) for lax implementation of the decision.
The total lockdown imposed by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) included the city of Hasakah, which came into effect on Tuesday morning, and will continue for a week.
The city tops the list of the infections, which have amounted 11,092 in the AANES areas.
The neighborhoods of Ghuweiran, al-Nashwa al-Sharqiyah and al-Nashwa al-Gharbiyah, south of Hasakah, witnessed an almost natural movement of the population, with an intense movement of motorcycles, in the absence of commitment to the means of protection from coronavirus.
Unlike other neighborhoods, the Asayish did not intensify its security checkpoints within the aforementioned neighborhoods.
Mahmoud Hussein, 52, a resident of Hasakah, criticized the residents’ recklessness and their lack of implementation of the rules of physical distancing.
“Closing shops and economic move in the country is not an effective solution, as residents do not abide by the rules of distancing and do not wear face masks,” he added.
