Syria’s AANES records 279 coronavirus infections and 4 deaths

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced the recording of 279 new coronavirus infections and four deaths in northeast Syria.

AANES’ Facebook page quoted Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board, who stated that the deaths are two men and two women from Qamishli.

The infections were 87 in Qamishli, 34 in Hasakah, 57 in Deir ez-Zor, 37 in Tabqa, 27 in Derik, 17 in Raqqa, 13 Derbasiya, 4 in Kobani, 1 in Girke Lege, 2 in Manbij.

Meanwhile, the AANES Health Board recorded 6 new recoveries.

With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has reached 11,092 confirmed cases, including 400 deaths and 1,340 recoveries.

This new toll comes on the first day of the lockdown in the northeastern regions of Syria.

AANES decided to impose a complete and partial lockdown after its regions witnessed a remarkable increase in the numbers of coronavirus infections.

The complete lockdown began in the cities of Raqqa, Qamishli, and Hasakah today, April 6, and will continue for a week.

Meanwhile, the complete lockdown coincides with a partial one in other areas of northeast Syria from 4:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
