Iranian-backed groups randomly arrest people in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Iranian-backed military groups launched a campaign of indiscriminate arrests, which were said to affect civilians in villages under their control in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
In the early morning, the pro-Iranian groups raided the villages of al-Abbas, al-Duwair and al-Majawda, where they arrested dozens of people, without knowing the reasons, a local source from the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor told North Press.
The members of the Iranian groups burned a house in the village of al-Majawda after arresting the house owner, and they insulted women during the raid, the source added.
The Iranian–backed groups control the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, starting from the town of al-Mayadin in the west to the Iraqi border in the east.
