Syria’s Autonomous Administration imposes full lockdown on village in Qamishli countryside
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Autonomous Administration in Jazira region imposed full lockdown on the village of Derona Aghe in the eastern countryside of Qamishli, northeast Syria, after the outbreak of coronavirus among the villagers.
“35 families are infected with coronavirus in the village,” Afram Ishaq, co-chair of Qamishli district, said.
The lockdown will take effect from April 6 to April 12.
“The health committees will monitor the situation by visiting the village and the neighboring villages,” Ishaq added.
The official did not rule out imposing a similar lockdown on the neighboring villages, in light of the increasing number of coronavirus infections.
Earlier today, The Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced four deaths and 304 new coronavirus infections in the regions of northeast Syria.
This is the largest daily death toll since the outbreak of coronavirus in the AANES areas in March 2020.
The decision of full lockdown on Hasakah, Qamishli and Raqqa cities will be in place starting from Tuesday, April 6 and will last for a week.
