SDF member killed in Syria’s east Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, a member of the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) was shot to death by unidentified individuals in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east Syria.
A military source told North Press that Abdullah al-Aswad was shot to death while he was present at a checkpoint stationed in al-Shafa, 115 kilometers east of Deir ez-Zor.
Al-Shafa enjoys a good security situation compared to neighboring villages and towns, and has only rarely witnessed assassinations since the elimination of ISIS in 2019.
During the past months, ISIS claimed responsibility for most of the attacks that targeted military points and members of the SDF and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
On Friday, the SDF arrested ISIS leaders in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
