SDF arrests ISIS sleeper cells in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested a group of people accused of being members of ISIS sleeper cells in the village of al-Zar, in the al-Basira district 35 km east of Deir ez-Zor.

A military source from the SDF told North Press that the SDF, with the support of the Global Coalition, launched a military campaign in the village of al-Zar to pursue ISIS sleeper cells.

Four wanted people, including ISIS leader Sa’ed al-Amash, were arrested in Deir ez-Zor.

Two days ago, the SDF launched a military campaign in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor during which large numbers of suspected ISIS sleeper agents were arrested.

On Friday, the SDF arrested three ISIS leaders in the town of al-Shuhail, 40 km east of Deir ez-Zor.
