We join Autonomous Administration if we become partners in decision: ENKS leader
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – We will join the Autonomous Administration in the event of a true partnership, said Saud al-Malla, head of the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) on Thursday.
In an exclusive interview with North Press, al-Malla stressed that ENKS demands to be a true partner in decision-making within the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.
The ENKS leader noted to some difficulties encountering the intra-Kurdish dialogue, related to the fate of the missing detainees, educational issues, compulsory conscription and the social contract.
He expressed his hope to reach a real agreement with the “other party” on the basis of “building a democratic Syria in which all communities, including the Kurds, enjoy their rights.”
Early today, the spokeswoman of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), the biggest party of the National Unity bloc, Sama Bakdash told North Press that they “reached key points regarding the political position.”
“We reached understandings regarding the future of Syria, methods to solve the Kurdish issue, dealing with the Syrian opposition, and the Kurdish political position,” Bakdash added.
Late in 2019, talks between the PYNK and the ENKS started following an invitation from the SDF Commander-in-Chief, General Mazloum Abdi and sponsoring by US diplomats.
Since mid-December 2020, the US Deputy Special Envoy to Syria, David Brownstein, has frequently met with the two parties to the dialogue, stressing his country’s “determination to make the intra-Kurdish dialogue succeed in Syria.”
