Casualties due to tribal fighting in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North press) – On Tuesday, tribal fighting erupted between two families in the town of Garanij, east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, killing a person and wounding six others.

The two fighting families of al-Ghadban and al-Siyyad have long disputed over their eligibility to own agricultural lands.

“The young man Badr al-Muhaimid al-Abd al-Hassan, member of the al-Ghadban family, was killed as a result of the fighting,” a military source told North Press.

“Six other people were wounded, and they were transferred to the hospital,” the source added.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) imposed a security cordon on the town, and began to investigate and look for the wanted.

The wanted fled to the West Bank of the Euphrates River, which is under the control of the Syrian government, according to local sources.

On March 19, a person was killed and three others were wounded due to tribal fighting in the town of al-Shuhail, east Deir ez-Zor.
