Government forces renew shelling on Syria’s Idlib countryside
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Syrian government forces renewed their shelling on Turkish-backed armed groups’ fortifications northwest Syria.
The government forces targeted the armed groups’ posts in the village of Mjdlya, in the eastern Idlib countryside, with heavy artillery shells and rocket launchers, a field source told North Press.
The government shelling targeted the military posts of the armed groups at the entrance to the town of al-Najeya, in the western Idlib countryside.
The shelling coincided with intensive flight of drones and aircraft over the area, with no military or civil casualties reported, according to the source.
The de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is witnessing mutual targeting between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed groups, despite the Russian-Turkish ceasefire providing for cessation of hostilities.
