Preparations for theatre festival in Syria’s Qamishli completed
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A theater festival under the name of Theatrical Martyr Yekta Festival, under the slogan “Washokani Scream” will be opened in the city of Qamishli, northeast Syria, on March 27.
The festival will start with two shows, “Kobani, you are not the only one,” which was directed by Tireij Fatima, and “I am a human being,” directed by Muhammad Rasoul.
Nine theater performances are competing for prizes of the festival, which are the best show, the best directing, the best first stage actor and actress, the best second stage actor and actress, the best theatrical script, and the best lighting and theater music award, in addition to a prize for the arbitration committee.
The shows’ watching committee finished its work after watching more than 23 theatrical shows from different regions, which were directed by directors with a long experience in theater.
Among them are six theatrical performances from Hasakah, the most important of which is Confession and Banasin, directed by Muhammad Rasoul, and The Scream directed by Fatima.
There are six performances from Qamishli, the most important of which are Burned Souls directed by Adnan Mustafa, The Doors directed by Abdeljalil, and Weapon in Seagull Wing directed by Sarya Baran.
As for the rest of the northern regions of Syria, there is one performance from Derik, The Clown directed by Hussein Sabri, the Calvary quoted from a text by Nazim Hikmat, Red Roses suit the General from Raqqa, and The New Maqam from Rumailan, directed Khalil Tehlo.
Among the theatrical performances that the committee watched are: The Window, Try Again, The Bitten Dog, The Tut Family, I Shout, The Hole, The Revolution of the Dead, and The Dirt Bride.
